International Surfing Day is an annual worldwide celebration of the sport of surfing which helps raise awareness of the state of our oceans, waves and beaches.

Created by the Surfrider Foundation, 2013 marks the ninth anniversary of International Surfing Day, with over 200 events taking place globally. The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches worldwide.

We all need to work hard to keep our beloved ocean and beaches clean. Plastic is the most common type of marine litter worldwide. An estimated 100,000 marine mammals and up to 1 million sea birds die each year after ingesting or being tangled in plastic marine litter!  playa bonita las terrenas
