Surf Spots and Forecast in the Dominican Republic – House of Waves is located in a truly blessed and consistent area for surfing on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.

We enjoy good quality surfing year round, with the biggest waves arriving in the middle of August to September for Hurricane Season, and again from November through March. The island is surrounded by great surf spots, here are some of our favorites….

Is a reef break located in the town of Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Surfing is very consistent especially in the winter and spring, best swell direction comes from the north and northeast, with a variety of break spots, offering different types of waves and direction. This spot also provides fun medium waves during the summer.


Is a fun beach break with a tubular section throughout the inside. Located on the northeast in Las Terrenas, it offers left and right hand waves The best months are from November to April. Close to new international airport El Catey.


Is a fast and consistent beach break located on the east side of Cabarete. Good tubular sections. This spot works best in the summer and winter. Waves break in multiple directions. Onshore wind and sun can hit very early, so don´t forget to bring sunblock and fresh water.

Located on the North-East Coast of the Dominican Republic, near Punta Cana. It is an exposed, consistent beach break that offers multiple wave directions. The best swells here are a mix of groundswell and windswell created in winter and spring.


This is a reef break located in the center of Puerto Plata City, also has good surfing and long powerful waves from November to April, with the best swell coming from the north and northeast. Offshore wind hits from the south. Beware of rocks and urchins.

Is a wind protected reef break located in the northwest area of Sosua Dominican Republic. This spot can handle over head side waves, breaking A frame until the inside. Watch for coral and urchins.


Located in Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic, is a fairly consistent beach break, best season is winter and spring. Depending on the type of swells, you can find diffent waves and spots walking farthest south.


El Broke is an exposed powerful and consistent beach break, located in the city of Nagua Dominican Republic. Possible to get barrels with both small and big conditions. Has potential for surfing year-round, the best seasons are winter and spring. Watch for wind and rip currents.
